Edit was born in Cegléd, in Hungary as Majer Edit. She began learning music in her early years. When she was 6 years old, she went to Erkel Ferenc music school in her hometown. She soon stood out of the others with her talent and her love for music. When she finished the seventh grade she could go to the conservatory of Szeged, to continue her studies and bring her flute studies to a whole new level. Her flute teacher was Lass Zoltán and her accompanist was Kerekné Fekete Éva. In 1987 she took part in a concert with the international choir Vox Europae where she played her flute.

In the third class of the conservatory, in 1989 due to an accident she got a seizure, therefore the whole right half of her body became paralysed. So she had to learn to speak, walk and write again. Even though she was able to finish almost all of her exams, she couldn’t play her flute anymore. She moved from Szeged to the Kodály Zoltán ÉZI(Song an Musical Institute) in Kecskemét, where she got a new teacher, Dratsay Ákos, with whom she finally was able to finish her flute exams. Her teacher was literally her right hand on her flute. She could pass her piano exam by playing the two parts individually with her one working hand.

In 1995 she met Theo van der Burg for the third time. From then he became her helping angel, and travelled several times to Hungary. At one of these visits he asked her flute from Edit’s mother and started to write music that could be played with one hand on a regular flute. In august 1996 Theo invited her to the Netherlands. There began their love. In 1997 they got married and moved to the Netherlands, where Edit gave little concerts in the surrounding churches, with one hand on her regular flute. After one of these concerts, a presbyter from one church came up to Edit with the news that a man in Amsterdam made a one handed blockflöte (recorder). After much planning and arrangement, she finally got her first, one handed flute in august 1999. Two days later she gave her first little concert with her first one handed flute. In 2000 she gave birth to her son, Theodor. In 2002 and 2003 she took part in the National Flute Competition of the BeNeLux. The first year she ended up being the runner up but the next year she got the prize for the first place in her own class.

At the end of 2006 she moved back to Hungary with her husband and her son. A year later in 2007 they returned from their vacation with Edit’s new flute. In 2008 her daughter was born. In 2013 Edit and her family went to Switzerland where Edit attended the master class of James Galway and his wife. A year later they travelled to Linz, because the flute and the maker of the flute got an award for the most unique instrument. In 2016 she finally got her coveted third flute. Currently she lives in Cegléd with her family.

Edit gives concerts on various occasions, in different countries. She mostly plays classical music and arrangements from the baroque till the 20th century. There are several virtuous plays of known and less known composers in her repertoire. She loves to give concerts anywhere she is invited.
